Are you making New Year’s Resolutions this year? You might want to examine your goal(s) first. Statistically speaking, a whopping 63% per cent of people fail at sticking to or completing their resolutions. We all know this—it’s kind of a running joke, sadly. But, before you get discouraged, let’s look at why this happens and how to beat it.

Most people aim for a goal that’s simply unachievable. Whether it’s trying to lose 50+ pounds in one month, dropping a bad habit within the first week, or quitting a job to travel the world without having any savings, these goals are simply not smart. That’s why I’ve gathered totally practical—no excuse resolution ideas below. These types of goals can help you start small with something that challenges you, but is achievable and something you can keep up for the rest of your life. Remember that resolutions don’t have to be huge, physical or family-altering goals—they can be as simple as bringing more positivity into your life for happier days. Think of your resolution as a life change, not a temporary challenge, like a “diet”. Give yourself no excuses to quit, but don’t push yourself too hard, either. And, most of all, Happy New Year!
