Beauty Hacks Every Girl Should Know

Women are amazing. The ability we have to discover secret tricks and tips to things in everyday life never ceases to amaze me. Whether it’s figuring out how to use whatever you have on hand for or how to revamp a dried-out tube of mascara back to brand new, the pointers are easy and borderline genius. I’ve stumbled across a few in my day that I now live by, which is why I wanted to round up some of my favorites to share with you. Feel free to leave some of your favorites in the comments below!

  • If your mascara has gone a little thick and clumpy, pop it in a bowl of warm water.
  • For better grip, flip your bobby pin over so the wavy side goes against your head.
  • Apply a dap or two of lipstick to cheeks and blend whenever you’re low on blush or out-and-about and need a quick refresh.
  • Toss a spoon in the freezer for five minutes. Apply it to breakouts to reduce redness and inflammation.
  • Calm frizzy hair using a dryer sheet. Rub it over your locks or apply it to your brush before brushing your hair.
  • Before bed, wash your face and lightly apply extra virgin olive oil to your lashes and brows to help them grow fuller and longer.
  • Exfoliate your legs before shaving them to bring those tiny hairs out of their follicles. You’ll end up shaving less!
  • Use cold green tea bags to decrease puffiness under your eyes.
  • Dust face powder over your eyelashes between the first and second coats of mascara to plump up lashes and make them appear fuller.
  • Dark polishes can leave your nails looking dull and dirty. Rub lemon and baking soda over stained nails to make them white again.
  • Coconut oil works as an all-natural, conditioning eye makeup remover.
  • Use a separate toothbrush to tease hair and add body.
  • Insert bobby pins into the back underside of your ponytail holder vertically to prop up and volumize your ponytail.
  • Placing coconut oil on pulse points before applying fragrances will make them last longer.
  • Apply perfume on your pulse points: wrists, behind the ear, inner elbows, behind the knees, and base of throat.
  • Mash up a strawberry with baking soda and use as toothpaste to gradually whiten teeth.
  • Use coconut oil as deodorant, as it has antibacterial properties. Add a drop of lavender for scent.
  • Fix foundation stains by adding a little bit of shaving cream on the spot before tossing into the wash.
  • The best way to apply under-eye concealer is to draw a triangle with the base under your eye and the point toward your cheek.
  • Turn the water to cold before the end of your show to seal pores and prevent acne.
  • Create the illusion of plumper lips by filling in the middle section with a light concealer, blending it out with the warmth from your fingertip, and finishing with a nude lip gloss.
  • When you’re looking for a foundation match, test on your neck, not your arm, for the most accurate shade.
  • Hit your eyelash curler with a hair dryer to heat it up, so your lashes curl easier.
  • Dip freshly-painted nails in ice-cold water to speed up the drying process.
  • Mascara can double as eyeliner by dipping a small, thin brush in the tube and lining the top of eyes as you would normally.
  • Keep leftover lemon slices in the fridge for a quick toner—it’s naturally lightens age spots.
  • Use white eyeliner as a brow highlighter for an instant eye lift.
